Feb RPRA Council Meeting

Feb RPRA Council Meeting

Hi All

At the Feb council meeting it was decided that members could, if they wish, take the ets lugs off the 2010 life rings. My warning is that any person who feels strongly enough to do so should take great care in not damaging the main part of the ring, and try to do a VERY tidy job so as not to face in the future charges of ring tampering.

The letter sent from the Solent fed, and forwarded by the Southern region was discussed at the Lib Site committee concerning both the lack of good quality french libs sites, and the costs to the Channel Island fanciers in returning the pigeons.

There are a couple of new lib sites in the pipeline, and the protracted negociations for Lessay and Nantes continue. We hopefully will have a better idea of the situation after the March council meeting.

There was a general concensous that council would be willing to help the islanders with the costs of repatriating pigeons, but investigations are to be made as to who should receive help, and on what island.

Fanciers using ets should also be aware that Rule 241 now reads

The position of the ETS sensors/antennae will not be allowed on any landing boards or other external surface in a position where the electronic ring can trigger the sensors before the bird is confined within the loft or trap. Club officials may make random checks at any time. Contranvention of this rule will result in disciplinary action under Rule 70a.

This will mean for many that a little loft maintenance may be necessary. Remember..... the pigeon must be confined in the loft before it as timed. This means it must not be in a position where it may fly off after being timed.

I remind you of the meeting on 14th March 2010, including the breeder/buyer sale.

See you there.
